Born in Athens, Greece, Angie Lee’s fitness career ironically came as the result of fighting a constant uphill battle while initially pursuing a career in dance. Angie had studied classical ballet, contemporary, and musical theater in London, UK, but her athletic physique was hardly accepted in an industry dominated by waif-like figures. In the early 1990’s, Angie moved to New York City to pursue a career in modern and video dance, which were the few genres of dance that were receptive to her bodytype.
This is where Angie was introduced to the world of fitness while encountering a stray copy of a fitness magazine during a chance subway ride home from a dancing gig. Intrigued by what she read, Angie immediately joined a health club, where she began working with a personal trainer and persevered towards becoming a certified group fitness instructor/personal trainer herself. After finding an industry that encouraged and welcomed her athletic figure, Angie Lee hung up her dancing shoes for good.
Angie Lee currently leads classes at Equinox Fitness Clubs and Reebok Sports Club in New York City where she exercises her signature workout styles with her loyal following of students and private clients, which include the city’s most sought after doctors and socialites.
